Bioclear
Bioclear is a unique method of placing composite fillings. It uses specialized clear holders to naturally match form and function of teeth. It fills in unsightly black triangles in the front, and creates beautiful smiles without cutting and damaging teeth. On the back teeth it can be used to help make better contacts and contours of fillings where recession and other factors have caused larger spaces that tend to pack food and cause cavities. Bioclear is a minimally invasive cost effective procedure which can be an alternative to traditional crowns and veneers.

Comprehensive Dental Examinations
Dr. Vetter and her staff are pleased to be able to offer dental services to every age group and every member of your family. Prevention and education are important in her practice, and the entire team takes seriously your need to understand how to take charge of and protect your own oral health. Dr. Vetter and her staff are always available to answer questions about your dental needs and the services we can provide for your ideal treatment. They offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of your entire family.
The comprehensive examination is a process in which Dr. Vetter takes necessary records to provide a thorough diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan. This examination will include:
Oral Cancer Screening
If you are a tobacco or smokeless tobacco user, you are in primary danger of developing oral cancer.
More than 8,000 deaths were attributed to oral cancer in the past year. We are committed to the
prevention of oral cancer through the early identification of pre-cancerous conditions, and provide
oral cancer screenings at each preventive care appointment.
Periodontal Examination
Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. Dr. Vetter will examine
your gum tissues to insure that gum disease is detected in its early stages. Because bone loss is a significant consideration in determining the outcome of cosmetic treatment, we take the health of your gum and bone tissues very seriously.
Occlusal Examination
The forces of your bite can sometimes affect the positioning of your jaw and teeth. Through minor polishing of the enamel surfaces or smoothing fillings of the teeth, Dr. Vetter can help redistribute and redirect the biting forces. Adjustments to chewing surfaces can often eliminate headaches that occur as a result of irregular biting patterns.
Caries Exam
During this visual examination, Dr. Vetter locates areas of decay on chewing surfaces and between the teeth. Dr. Vetter uses a clinical exam, digital photography, Dental health scans, and radiographic findings to determine the most conservative treatment plan for your oral needs.
Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction Examination
TMJ is a condition that afflicts thousands of people. Frequent indicators of TMJ include popping and clicking of the jaw, limited jaw function, pain in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, and pain and pressure in the face and ears. We provide conservative therapies that can eliminate this painful and frustrating problem.

Dental Bridges
A fixed bridge, usually made of porcelain fused to gold is used to replace missing teeth. A bridge helps to create a normal bite, prevent stress on the dental arch, prevent the drifting and tilt of adjacent teeth, inhibit decay in difficult areas, and slow the onset of periodontal diseases.
Bridges are composed of abutments (the sound teeth on either side acting as supports) and the span (artificial teeth attached to the abutments). Our patients appreciate the expertise and training that Dr. Vetter has in this field as well as success with her patients.

Why Choose a Dental Bridge?
-
Restore your smile
-
Regain your ability to chew and speak properly
-
Prevent your face from losing it’s shape

Dr. Vetter’s Dental Bridge Process
Two visits are required to obtain your dental bridge. During the initial visit, the teeth on either side of your missing tooth are prepared to accommodate a crown on each. This involves re-contouring the teeth to allow room for the dental crown. Dr. Vetter will also take impressions of your teeth at this time. Next you will be fitted with a temporary dental bridge.
Your final bridge is delivered during the second visit approximately three weeks later. Dr. Vetter will ensure proper fit, contour, and esthetics, of your new restoration. If no further detailing is needed she will cement your new bridge that day. Most patients do not need anesthesia, and can chew and eat normally right away.

Dental Fillings
White and Composite Fillings
Made of tooth-colored material, composite fillings restore the teeth’s natural beauty. Composite fillings can be matched very closely to your natural tooth color and are virtually indistinguishable from non-restored teeth. Composite fillings are excellent options for both front and back teeth. The composites we use have proven to be extremely durable and stain resistant.

Single Tooth or Multiple Tooth Implants
Dental implants replace teeth that have been missing since birth or have been lost due to gum disease, infection, trauma, or decay. Implants are surgically attached to the jawbone and become a permanent part of your mouth. With implants, patients no longer experience the slipping, moving, and irritation of dentures.
Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth because they are made of a metal that is highly compatible with the jaw bone. As a result, the implant (a small post that protrudes from the gum) is able to fuse easily with the underlying bone.
A highly experienced oral surgeon or periodontist recommended by our office will perform the surgical procedure for your implant. Dr. Vetter will partner with your surgeon to follow your treatment to the restorative phase. Dr. Vetter will complete the implant procedure by attaching natural and functional tooth structures to the implant components, providing you once again with the comforts and confidence that accompanies a beautiful smile.

Preventive Services
Fluoride is important for teeth because it will strengthen the enamel and root surfaces, making it more difficult for cavities to begin. In our office we feel so strongly about the benefits of fluoride that both our children and adults receive fluoride treatments every six months at no extra charge.
During a pediatric exam, Dr. Vetter checks for plaque and teaches the child how to brush properly before applying a fluoride treatment.

Bonding
Bonding is a process in which tooth-colored material is applied to tooth surfaces, sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished to match surrounding teeth. With this procedure Dr. Vetter can close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth, and disguise discolored teeth. Bonding usually requires one office visit and often no anesthesia. Bonding is the choice of treatment for patients who have minor front tooth imperfections.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth-whitening procedures offer patients with stained, discolored, or dull teeth an
opportunity to have a whiter, brighter smile. Whitening significantly reduces external surface stains affected by food and beverage. We provide an in office laser whitening system and an at-home whitening system.
The laser whitening procedure is a cutting edge procedure that takes less than one hour from start to finish. It combines whitening gels and lasers to remove unwanted stains and leave teeth whiter and brighter. It includes custom trays for future whitening touch-ups. You will leave the office with a dazzling fresh smile.
The at home whitening system, is comfortable and affordable, in conjunction with in-office appointments to monitor progress. We take impressions of your mouth to prepare your custom-fitted trays, and specifically select a whitening program for you. The process is then completed in the comfort of your own home.

Dental Crowns
A crown is a restoration that covers a tooth in order to strengthen it as well as restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown may be placed to support a large filling when there is little remaining tooth structure, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, or restore fractured teeth.
A tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy will require a crown following treatment to provide strength and support to the tooth. We only use materials for crowns that will provide the longest lasting benefits to our patients.
Why restore with a dental crown?
Dr. Vetter will always recommend the most conservative treatment possible for your situation. However, there will be times when a crown is necessary. A crown is used when there is not enough tooth structure left to hold a large filling, when a tooth is fractured or broken, and to hide discolored misaligned teeth in the patients that are not good candidates for dental veneers.

Dr. Vetter’s Dental Crown Process
Once Dr. Vetter determines a dental crown is indicated, an appointment will be scheduled for tooth preparation.
During the dental crown preparatory visit, Dr. Vetter will:
-
Remove old filling from the tooth
-
Remove any decay
-
Place build-up material to fill in where old filling and decay was removed
-
Finesse preparation of tooth to allow for crown
-
Make impressions of your tooth
-
Choose a crown color that matches the color of the surrounding teeth
-
Fit you with a temporary crown
About 3 weeks later, you will come in for your second visit where the temporary is removed and the permanent crown is bonded securely. You will be able to eat normally after this visit.
There is not much difference in recovery after the crown preparation visit then a normal cavity filling visit. In both cases the area around your tooth may be a little sore or sensitive for a day or two. With crowns, your gums may also be a little sore due to preparation of the gums for the crown. Most patients do not need anesthesia for the final crown appointment, and you will be able to eat normally.
Dr. Vetter understands the reservations many have with dental work and strives to make the process as comfortable as possible for you. If you have any concerns, please feel free to discuss them with Dr. Vetter. You may bring in a favorite DVD or video to watch during your procedure. Dr. Vetter has a variety of pleasant music to choose from, and by all means request the dental chair massagers be turned on!

Inlays and Onlays
Inlays/onlays are a conservative option when a full crown is not necessary. These restorations are lab fabricated to increase strength and durability. They can be made in tooth colored materials such as porcelain or resin, or made in gold.
These restorations strengthen the remaining tooth structure, which reduces the possibility of future fractures and other difficulties that can result from the natural chewing process. Their strength, color, and comfort make them a popular choice among our patients.

Your Winning Smile Starts Here!
Are you afraid to smile? Embarrassed about your teeth? Or maybe you just want a better looking smile. Recapturing the beauty of your smile is easier than you think. Dental veneers, the primary smile enhancement used in extreme makeovers and the choice of many celebrities, can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth. If your job requires you to be in public, whether it is sales, training or speaking, a winning smile can improve your confidence.
The rocketing popularity of dental veneers is due to an advancement in bonding techniques and materials over the past two decades. Now, with good dental care and the procedure performed by a qualified cosmetic dentist, your veneers can last 15 years or more. A fast treatment that can be completed in only two office visits.
What are dental veneers?
Dental Veneers are wafer-thin, semi-translucent facings that bond
securely to the fronts of your teeth. Dental Veneers are durable, stain-resistant,
and natural looking. Usually made of porcelain, they are custom designed by your
dentist specifically for your teeth, fabricated at a specialty lab and then bonded to your teeth.
Why choose dental veneers?
Dental veneers are a safe and effective method of concealing broken, chipped, discolored, crooked, and misshapen teeth. Often only a very tiny amount of your tooth is removed to apply the veneers. Crowns may require a significant amount of tooth removal before application. Dental veneers can also be used to fill gaps and spaces between teeth.
Who is a Candidate for Dental Veneers?
Anyone with healthy teeth and a normal bite can consider dental veneers. If you have any cavities or peridontal disease, these must be addressed first. An initial consultation is recommended so that Dr. Vetter may complete a thorough examination of your teeth and make the best recommendation for you.
Advantages of Dental Veneers
They look natural and beautiful. They are also extrememly durable. So durable in fact, if there were trauma to the tooth, it is more likely the tooth would facture before the bond of the veneer. And using today’s adhesive technologies, they can last for years.
Disadvantages of Dental Veneers
Once applied, they are final. You will not be able to remove them. Therefore it is very important to have them designed by an experienced qualified cosmetic dentist to ensure they match the rest of your teeth and your expectations.
Why choose Dr. Vetter
Dr. Vetter has been designing smiles with the latest dental veneer technology for years. Patients from all over Orange County California have chosen Dr. Vetter to perform this procedure because of her experience, her commitment to excellence, and her personalized care.

-
Free complimentary assessment
The first step toward obtaining your winning smile is a free complimentary assessment performed personally by Dr. Vetter. At this consultation visit, she will examine your mouth and discuss treatment options along with pros and cons of each treamtent.

-
Veneer preparation visit
Once you have decided on veneers, a veneer preparatory visit is scheduled. During this visit, Dr. Vetter will take study models and photographs of your teeth. In addition, a tiny amount of the front of your tooth will be removed in order to allow room for the veneer. The color and shape of the teeth will also be determined. You are then fitted with temporary veneers. After that visit, Dr. Vetter will work with her lab to create your custom veneers to ensure they match your teeth shape and color perfectly.

-
Veneer application visit
The final veneers are tried on during this visit. If you and Dr. Vetter are extremely happy with your new veneers, then they will be bonded in, and you will walk out of the office that day with your new beautiful smile. If any last minute finessing or detailing is needed at the laboratory, then it will be scheduled. Dr. Vetter will not finalize your veneers until you are both satisfied with the results. Although your teeth may be a little sensitive to food or beverages for a couple days, generally there is no recovery process.

Preventive and Diagnostic General Dental Care
Sealants
Sealants protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and should be applied as soon as the child’s permanent teeth the molars come in. Though typically placed on children’s teeth, adult molars can also be sealed, provided a tooth does not show evidence of decay. The sealants that we have placed have been highly successful in preventing decay.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride applications help to strengthen the enamel on your child’s teeth, making it more difficult for cavities to begin. Children should be receiving fluoride treatments every six months.

Regular Hygiene Visit (Prophylaxis)
These important appointments allow Dr. Vetter and her hygienist to monitor your oral health and clean under your gum line where the toothbrush cannot reach. They also help promote healthy gums and teeth by removing the plaque that causes decay and gum infection, and educating you about prevention.

Tooth Desensitization
Fluoride is also helpful to adults to reduce the pain and discomfort caused by exposed root surfaces (receding gums). Regular fluoride application helps eliminate root sensitivity. Our patients have found it helpful to have a series of fluoride treatments to reduce their sensitivity, followed by at-home applications.

Periodontal Maintenance
Once your mouth is restored to health, it is important that you make a commitment to maintain your dental health. To achieve this, it is important that you return on a regular basis for a routine examination, scaling, and root planing. Dr. Vetter and her hygienist will inform you of the re-care interval that best fits your needs.
Localized Antibiotic therapy
This procedure can be used when a single isolated area or a few areas show an increase in periodontal infection activity. The antibiotic is delivered by the doctor or the hygienist directly into the infected site. This is used to control the bacteria that causes periodontal disease, and to promote healing of the gum tissue.
Night guard Therapy
Night guards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the chewing surfaces of the teeth associated with grinding and clenching. It is a conservative treatment that is very successful and highly recommended for patients with TMJ dysfunction. By creating an acrylic pattern of your teeth, Dr. Vetter can help you protect your teeth from unnecessary wear.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is a process in which tooth-colored material is applied to tooth surfaces, sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished to match surrounding teeth. With this procedure Dr. Vetter can close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth, and disguise discolored teeth.
Bonding usually requires one office visit and often no anesthesia. Bonding is the choice of treatment for patients who have minor front tooth imperfections.

Partial Dentures:
Partial dentures are indicated if some serviceable teeth are present for support in conjunction with the gums and jawbone. A partial denture, though removable, provides form and function replacement for missing teeth. If a partial is loose and having trouble staying in your mouth we can use implants to help give support and retention to a removable partial. This will allow you to chew and eat much better.
Full Dentures:
Full dentures are used if there are not any teeth left for support. The full denture covers more of the jaw than a partial denture and is partly held in place by a natural vacuum in the mouth.
With new advances in implant dentistry, dentures can be made to lock into your mouth. This provides you the ability to chew and eat things your old dentures may not have allowed you to. With as few as two implants, a lower denture can go from a wobbly mess to a stable set of teeth.
Dental Night Guard Therapy
Night guards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the chewing surfaces of the teeth associated with grinding and clenching. It is a conservative treatment that is very successful and highly recommended for patients with TMJ dysfunction. By creating an acrylic pattern of your teeth, Dr. Vetter can help you protect your teeth from unnecessary wear.
Many times people are unaware that they are grinding their teeth. The grinding often takes place at night while patients are sleeping and can create extreme damage. It is our goal to treat the wear at an early stage so it is not allowed to advance to a severe state.
In addition to helping relieve head, neck, jaw joint and shoulder pains, treating bruxism (grinding) and clenching is cost effective compared to ignoring the condition and exposing teeth to continued grinding. If you wait too long for treatment or choose not to have nightguard therapy treatment; crowns, bridges, implants and dentures are often needed to repair or replace worn and damaged teeth.
